The name BASESwiki comes from both its function as a wiki and from the acronym for the project’s title, “Business and Society, Exploring Solutions”. It is an initiative of the Special Representative of the Secretary General on Human Rights and Transnational Corporations and Business Enterprises, in cooperation with the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative and the Harvard Kennedy School, with additional support and collaboration from the International Bar Association and the Office of Compliance Advisor / Ombudsman of the World Bank Group. CEDHA participates as a Focal Point for Latin American.
The BASESwiki is a comprehensive resource designed to disseminate information in a wiki system, promoting the analysis of and knowledge about non-judicial mechanisms for dispute resolution available to companies, communities and individuals. Additionally, it collects information from experts and other resources that assist in the advancement of these mechanisms and processes.
