Amelia Murphy joins CHRE’s Board of Directors after serving in multiple roles with our organization, including promoting fast mitigation solutions to climate change that address the most pressing needs of the most affected people and areas.
Amelia coordinated CHRE’s work in California, engaging directly with community advocacy leaders, NGOs, as well as high-level State officials, to promote environmental justice policy that aligned COVID-19 recovery goals and climate mitigation to reduce the urban heat island effect, cut super pollutants, protect public health, advance racial equity, and promote green economic growth.
Amelia also helped edit and co-author the final chapter of Meltdown: The Earth Without Glaciers, by CHRE’s co-founder and former President, Jorge Daniel Taillant. As a Cryoactivism Researcher and Editor, Amelia promoted awareness of the opportunity to halt global warming and avoid surpassing critical tipping points by cutting the short-lived super climate pollutants, including methane, dirty HFC refrigerants, tropospheric ozone smog, and black carbon soot.
Amelia holds a B.A.Sc. in Sustainability, Science, and Society from McGill University, and is currently based in Washington, D.C. where she is the Assistant to the President at the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development.
