The Center for Human Rights and Environment became the newest member of the Sierra Nevada Alliance this month. The Sierra Nevada Alliance.

Since 1993, the Sierra Nevada Alliance has been protecting and restoring Sierra lands, water, wildlife, and communities.

Purpose: The Sierra Nevada Alliance exists to elevate and support Sierra ecosystems and communities.
Mission: We are a hub for stewardship of the Sierra Nevada, which we achieve by empowering and collaborating with our partners.
Vision: Every Sierra ecosystem and community is healthy, resilient, and collectively cared for through thriving partnerships, as a legacy for future generations.

CHRE, while originally based and launched in Argentina,  has a very specific focus and interest in California’s Sierra Nevada range, since it is a key glacier and periglacial runoff ecological system. Since 2015, CHRE initiated a rock glacier inventory and has registered hundreds of rock glacier formations in the Sierras.

In September of 2019, CHRE will conduct a site visit of the Sierra Nevada with some of the most renowned specialists in the Sierra’s rock glacier and hydrological systems.
